After several years in the planning stage, Westbank is proceeding
with an applicaiton to build a 25 storey, mass timber rental building at the NW
corner of East 5th Avene and Main Street (2015 Main Street). The
building will form part of Westbank’s larger Main Alley tech office campus.
This exciting new project is set to demonstrate the viability of high-rise mass
timber construction in Vancouver, a type of construction that has been built in
parts of the US, Northern Europe and Japan.
Located within the Mount Pleasant Centre – Area G (MCEG) of
the Broadway Plan, the project seeks the following:
-25 storeys
-210 rental units (168 market rent, 42 below-market rent (20%))
-Unit Breakdown: 53 X Studio, 84 X 1-BD, 53 X 2BD & 20 X 3BD
-3,800 SF ground floor commercial space
-Total Floor Area: 257,413 SF
-FSR: 6.22
The application also reveals plans for a second rental tower
to the north of this project, to be constructed at a later time/phase.
