After 6 scheduled meetings, hours and hours of heated debate and 27 amendments, the Broadway Plan has been approved 7 to 4. Councilors Hardwick, De Genova, Swanson and Weibe voted in opposition.
Notable proposed amendments from today’s meeting include:
-Requests for studies regarding rate of change, rents and rental development
-Studies to further explore “tower in the park” type zoning, where ground level podiums are removed in favour of taller buildings with more green space in between buildings
A new version of the Broadway Plan including the new amendments will be available to the public for review.
Big changes are coming to Vancouver, a new transit line and a large expansion of the city core.
