According to local media reports, the completion of the Broadway Subway Line is projected to be delayed until early 2026 (from the original timeline of late 2025). The delay is being blamed on the 5-week concrete worker strike in June of last summer. Despite the delay and other inflationary pressures, the government claims that the project is still on budget.
Construction on the line has hit another milestone with the successful assembly of the second boring machine. The tunneling process is estimated to take approximately a year to excavate.
Given the government’s track record of delays and cost overruns for infrastructure and public works projects, there are likely many more delays and surprises down the road.
